While traveling, use a permanent resident (PR) card to prove you’re a PR when you come back to Canada. Apply for a PR card or travel document, get urgent processing or check the status of your application.

New permanent residents :
New permanent residents don’t need to apply for a permanent resident card (PR card). There is a $50 processing fee for PR card applications.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a PR card, you need to:
** be a permanent resident, and
** submit your application in Canada.

You should only apply for a PR card if :
** you didn’t receive your PR card within 180 days of immigrating to Canada;
** your PR card is expired or will expire in less than nine months;
** your PR card has been lost, stolen, or destroyed

Before you apply

** A permanent resident card (PR card) is usually issued for five years, but can sometimes be issued for one year instead.
** It is valid until the expiry date listed on the card.
** We only send PR cards to addresses within Canada.

How To Apply

Follow the below steps to apply for a permanent resident card (PR card)

Application for a Permanent Resident Card :
1. Write your Unique Client Identifier (UCI) in the box at the top right hand corner.
2. Choose Would you like service in English or in French?
3. Write the date you became a permanent resident of Canada

Personal Details :
1. Write your Family Name/ Write your Given Name
2. Write your current last name/ Given Name
3. Select your sex
4. Enter your date of birth
5. Enter your country birth
6. Write the name of your country (or countries) of citizenship
7. Select identify the colour of your eyes
8. Write your height in centimetres or in feet and inches.

Declaration of Applicant :
1. Read the declaration. Sign and date the application form.
** If you are less than 14 years of age: one of your parents or a legal guardian must sign the application.
** If you are 14 years of age or more but less than 18 years of age: Your application must be signed by you and one of your parents or a legal guardian.

Pay your Application Fees

You must pay the PR card application fee online.
To pay your fees online, you need :
** a PDF Reader,
** a printer,
** a valid email address, and
** a credit or debit card.
After you pay, print your receipt and include it with your application.

Submit your Application

Make sure you :
** answer all questions,
** sign your application and all forms,
** include the receipt for your payment, and
** include all the supporting documents.

Send your application and payment to the Case Processing Centre in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Application processing times start from when we get a complete application with supporting documents and photos in the right format.
98 Days Processing time is the average for how long it takes from when an application is received to when we make a decision

Client Application Status

This on-line service allows Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) clients to view securely the status of their immigration and/or citizenship application(s) on-line, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; anytime, anywhere.
If you are inactive on this application for 30 minutes or more, you will be ‘Timed-Out’. It is a security feature to ensure your identity and to protect your information.

Steps :
1. Read all the instruction click on Continue button.

2. Tick the checkbox I have read, understood and agree with the above Terms and Conditions.Click on Continue button.

Check Status :
1. Select Identification Type
2. Enter Identification Number


3. Enter Surname/Family Name:
4. Enter Date of Birth
5. Place of Birth
6. Click on Continue button.

If we approve your application, we will mail you a PR card. In some cases, we may ask you to pick it up at one of our offices.
