You can pay your council tax in the following ways :

Pay by debit/credit card or PayPal :
Before making a payment :
To make a payment you must use a currently supported web browser.
** If you cannot access our payment page, please update your browser to its most recent version.
If paying by card you must also have registered your card with either :
** Verified by Visa (for all Visa cards) or
** MasterCard SecureCard (for all Mastercards)
Make a payment :
** Make a payment (using your payment card or PayPal)
** Alternatively use our automated telephone payment service by calling 0845 601 7297. This call will cost you 5p per minute plus your phone company’s access charge

What can I pay for online?
You can pay your council tax, non-domestic rates, debtor invoices, housing benefit debts, and housing rents.
How do I make a payment?
On the payments page, select your payment from the Payment Type options
For each type of payment, you will need the relevant reference number. For instance, for council tax payments you will need your 9-digit reference number which starts with an 8.
What payment cards do you accept?
We accept Visa, Delta, JCB, Maestro/Switch, Mastercard and Solo.
Direct Debit
** Set up a direct debit online or call us on 01524 582900.
Telephone (24 hours) :
By credit card or debit card. Call 0845 601 7297. This call will cost you 5 pence per minute plus your phone company’s access charge.
Bank :
Through your bank/online banking quoting the council’s account details as follows :
** Your council tax account reference (as printed on your council tax bill)
** Sort code: 01-54-90
** Account reference: 64848426
Post Office
** Use your swipe card or barcoded bill to pay at any Post Office.
Payzone :
** Take your bill to your nearest Payzone store.
By post :
** Post your payment to us. Make your cheque or postal order payable to Lancaster City Council and write ‘account payee’ down the centre of your cheque if it isn’t there already. Write your reference number on the back.
